‘One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab’: Math challenges problem solving activity pack
This pack is designed full of puzzles and problems based around the theme of ‘One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab’.
The problems are intended to challenge pupils and extend their thinking. Pupils may need to draw on a range of skills to solve the problems. These include: working systematically, sorting and classifying information, reasoning, predicting and testing hypotheses and evaluating the solution.
The investigations get harder and longer as the booklet goes on.
The solutions are at the end of the booklet.
*Challenges based on Mathematical challenges from the National Numeracy Strategy and adapted the fit the One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab’ theme.

Dividing by 2, 5, 10 Bug Bingo Game KS1 Kindergarten
Includes a Bug bingo board and divsion cards to print for dividing by 2, 5, and 10
Children play against a partner and share a bingo board.
They pick a different colour each.
Take turns to pick a division card.
If they solve it and see the answer on a bug on their bingo board they can colour it in.
The child with the most coloured bugs at the end wins!
A fun game that the children can repeat.
Addition Bingo Number bonds differentiated for bonds to 10, 12, 20 KS1
KS1 and Kindergarten Maths
Practise number bonds to 10, 12 and 20. Differentiate as needed.
This game can be laminated and played over and over again for consolidation!

To Play:
Children play with a partner
Pick a different colour each
Take turns to pick an addition card. Solve it and colour it in on their Bingo board
Keep taking turns until all the bugs are coloured in.
Whoever coloured the most bugs wins!
P.S. You can print and use the cards for children to pick up, solve and colour in the answer or you can use dice for the children to add together.

Partners take turns to pick a division calculation card. If the player manages to solve it correctly they can colour in the number on the bug on their answer sheet. Whoever colours in all their bugs first wins!
